Charlie is a wallflower in this book; he is invisible in his school. His school is a typical high school with popular people, hipsters, geeks, etc. Charlie is this one guy that never participates in class, is very shy and doesn’t have a lot of friends. When he gets to know some new friends called Sam and Patrick, his life changes. He starts to experience what most teens at his age do. He goes to parties, experiences drugs and alcohol, goes out a lot with Patrick and Sam and more. This book is about how Charlie goes through high school. I recommend this book for specially teenagers. A lot of the teenagers in the actual time could feel related to this story because there are a lot of teens that may feel the same way Charlie does. They may be feeling his shyness, not having lots of friends, being left over, etc. We learned how it actually feels to be the one without friends as he describes in the first chapter how he really wanted to fit in. This book really make you thinks, it is written in a way that you will want to read more and more. It has a format of some letters. Charlie is supposed to write this letters to someone unknown. He also mentions in the beginning that he is changing some names including his name to keep his identity in secret. This make the readers think, “Who is Charlie writing the letters to?” or “Who is Charlie? What may be his real name? Why he wants to keep in secret his identity?” As you read this book you will get some clues of this questions’ answers. We get to know Charlie really well and everything about his feelings. One example is when he passes through a tunnel with Sam and Patrick in the car. He describes his feelings with pure happiness, and how that day passing through that tunnel was special in chapter 6. As you read the story there’s a character that Charlie mentions a lot and most of the readers won’t understand why, his aunt Helen. Throughout the book we keep getting clues about his aunt; she may or may not be someone that has to be with Charlie’s behavior and way of being. So when you read Perks of Being a Wallflower, be sure to put attention to EVERY detail.

One part of the symbolism in the story Perks of Being a Wallflower is when some parts in the book, Charlie talks about a tunnel that he has gone sometimes. Once he went with Patrick and Sam. He used a lot of description on that tunnel, he analyzed it a lot through out the book. He really explained the symbolism in the tunnel specially in the middle when he starts spending more time with his friends. There is a part in the book when he describes how the moment he passed through that tunnel he felt "infinite". We can infer that the symbolism of the tunnel is that passing through it feels so good, like how he is passing from being shy, to now having great friends. That was why he felt so good specially that time passing through it with Sam and Patrick.

We don't really know where the story takes place. In fact we don't really know if Charlie is actually called like that because in the beginning he says that he doesn't want to be found and he may change the names of the characters. What we know is the date of 1990s, the first letter Charlie wrote was in August 25 of 1991. The last letter of the book written by Charlie was in August 23 of 1992. We can infer that the story takes place in a big city from the information given in the book. This also happens when Charlie is in high school, with no friend i

Since the beginning of this book, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, we can infer that the title is referring to Charlie, the main character. Through out the story we can see that that Charlie is very shy and that he usually doesn't participates a lot in class. In this case a wallflower stands for someone that doesn't have many friends and is not very social. This means that Charlie is the wallflower because he doesn't interact a lot with other people. The term "perks" in this case means advantages. So in fact the title can be changed into advantages of being invisible. We can tell that maybe Charlie enjoys to be shy and don't stand out a lot. He is happy being himself.

There are many different themes in all the story. In the first chapters you can see that friendship means a lot for you. Charlie starts to make some friends like Sam and Patrick. They seem to care a lot about Charlie, this means they really are good friends.
Another theme in the story is to get to know all the types of love that appear in this book. One example can be Patrick and Brad, who was a football player that had a secret love with patrick. They were gay. Also Charlie shows some love to Sam and Sam to him. You can infer that maybe they fell in love from their friendship they had previously.

In the story Perks of Being a Wallflower the narrator is Charlie. He tells the story with some letters to an anonymous "friend". The story is kind of confusing because in the first chapter there's a part where Charlie says "I will call people by different names or generic names because I don't want you to find me", so that makes the readers be confused. I like the way the narrator is in this  because is kind of different from other books. In the way the book is separated the reader will want to finish reading a letter to see what's going to be in the next. While we read the book, we can feel like Charlie is actually writing to us.

Through out the first chapters of the story, there have been a lot of important events. First of all Charlie introduces us to his family and his school. Charlie has a lot of things going on his mind.

In chapter 5 there's a part when he says "
"And my mind played hopscotch.
My brother ...  football ...  Brad ...  Dave and his girlfr in my room ...  the coats ...  the cold ...  the winter ...  "Autumn Leaves" ...  don't tell anyone ...  you pervert ...  Sam and Craig ...  Sam ...  Christmas ...  typewriter ...  gift ...  Aunt Helen ...  and the trees kept moving ...  they just wouldn't stop moving ... "
Here you can se that actually some of these things are what are happening in the book by this time of the book. He refers to his brother because he is in a football team and is a very good player; also Brad, who is a football player with a secret. He mentions "Autumn Leaves" which is a  tape that Charlie's sister received from her boyfriend, and she gave it to Charlie.

I chose this book mainly because a friend recommend it to me. It is very descriptive and complex. It is hard to understand at first, but when you understand it better it is a very good book!
